Wagyu Beef Sliders with Caramelized Onions

Sliders are the life of any party, but when made with buttery Wagyu beef, they become something far more memorable. Topped with sweet caramelized onions and a smear of blue cheese or aioli, these little burgers pack a gourmet punch in every bite. Ideal for gatherings, events, or even as a main with a trio of toppings.

We suggest using our Wagyu Burger Patties as pre-formed patties simplify preparation and ensure consistent, juicy sliders every time.

Ingredients

For the sliders:

  • 500g Wagyu mince
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 6–8 slider buns

For the onions:

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • Pinch of salt

Toppings (choose your combo):

  • Blue cheese
  • Aioli or garlic mayo
  • Arugula
  • Pickles
  • Cheddar slices

Cooking Steps

  1. Caramelize onions: In a skillet over low heat, melt butter and add onions with salt and sugar. Cook slowly for 25–30 minutes until soft and golden.
  2. Form patties: Mix Wagyu mince with Worcestershire and Dijon (optional), then shape into 6–8 mini patties. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook patties: Sear in a hot pan or grill for 2–3 minutes per side, depending on thickness. Don’t overcook—Wagyu is best medium-rare to medium.
  4. Toast buns: Lightly toast slider buns on a skillet or under the grill.
  5. Assemble: Add patty, caramelized onion, and your chosen toppings. Finish with the bun top and skewer if needed.

Cooking Tips

  • Avoid overmixing the mince to keep it tender.
  • Use a cast iron skillet for the best crust.
  • Caramelize onions low and slow—don’t rush!
